Matteo Forlini, born in Ravenna (Italy) on 16th March 1981, graduated in Medicine (2007) and completed Ophthalmology Residency (2012) at Bologna and Modena Universities, both with top honors. He worked as a retinal specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon at University Hospitals in Modena (2012-2015) and Parma (2015-2018). Since 2019, he has been a vitreoretinal consultant at San Marino Hospital. He has authored scientific articles on vitreoretinal surgery and ocular traumatology and is a member of various international societies, including EURETINA and ASRS. He is also on the editorial board of Ophthalmology Journal and serves as a faculty member at ESASO and the European Vitreo-Retinal Training School. Forlini has received multiple awards, including the OPHTEC Artisan Ambassador Award (2016), SOI-SOE Lecture Award (2017), ASRS Honor Award (2019), and several video competition awards. Since 2020, he has been an examiner for the European Board of Ophthalmology and a surgical instructor at the European Vitreo-Retinal Training School. He has also served as lead guest editor for special issues of the Journal of Ophthalmology.
